Memories at the Inn

Banner Of Truth did us a service by reprinting a work 'Notes of the discussions of the Ecletic society of London' this would have been forgotten had the Banner not republished it, possibly a copy or two carelessly left in someone's attic, gathering dust, sacred memories of the blessed society forgotten to time (and who knows how many over blessed fellowships of Christians have been forgotten or lost to history).

The Ecletic society was a group of Christian leaders (this included the Wesley brothers) that met every two weeks.

I will focus on the three years the society spent meeting at the inn- oh, how blessed that Inn must have been, for people overhearing about the works of Christ in England and elsewhere. Who knows the leaders who came and went and the characters encountered!

The society met from 1798-1814 and now what remains of those precious long past memories is the tea pot used to serve the society tea- held by the Church Mission Society.

Times come and go in life- we remember the past Bible studies, churches and fellowship we were part of but had to leave behind- we moved location but still reminisce on the days the and nights of fellowship. The out of church socials that we were a part of had to be discontinued- people moved, etc.

But one thing is certain- we will have many new and exciting times of fellowship in this life and we will see all of these people we haven't seen for awhile for an eternity!

@LadyGrace Thanks, again I'd never heard of this society before and it made me think of all of the beautiful Christian fellowship gatherings not recorded by history or only recorded in a lost book title!
