Wednesday Bible Study
Always great to welcome new people and we welcomed one last night- he has actually been a Christian for 20 years but came for the same reason as my wife and I- to get a mid-week Bible study.
The Sermon Notes:
. Our salvation is not 99.99999999% God's work- it is 100% God's work.
. If you die trusting in your own good works to get you to heaven and not in Christ's sacrifice, you will wake up in hell, only one name saves- no religion or religious leader will.
. Even our faith is a gift from God, it certainly wasn't of yourself.
. One of the many things the ressurection showed was God the Father's approval of Christ's sacrifice.
. In life our appointments change- medical appointments get rescheduled, friends can cancel a meetup last minute, etc BUT your date standing before the judgement seat of Christ is set in stone and cannot be changed.
. Further to the above don't fear IF you are a Christian who trusts in Christ's sacrifice, as Matthew Henry put it "He is our friend and judge"
. Believers- your name is known among the angels and believers in heaven!
. When you don't want to pray to God think of this- we come as beggars relying on God's grace. When you feel you are too sinful, etc that is actually a strange form of self-righteousness. Our prayers are imperfect- he is perfect!
