Not all brands of Christianity or even Christians are the same. The Bible is pure and true but human beings have a way of twisting truth

@James25 What I find interesting is how every few years the Bible is "updated." So maybe "pure and true" isn't the call.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Ynotisay Just a new translation theory, not an update. And yes I think it's way overboard but no accurate translation ever says anything different from the Hebrew and Greek. They're all essentially the same.

The Bible has actually been preserved amazingly well over the ages so we know we have the true words
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@James25 No, there are actually no contradictions once you understand the full context and literary styles of the verses.

And recording something doesn't mean you condone it. History books are full of atrocities that they don't condone and they Bible is no different.

I've studied this stuff and I've experienced the power and Spirit of God so I will never doubt Him or His Word

@TexasDude Of course it's been changed. Tens of thousands of times. There is no 'first edition.' Hell, in the New Testament people are quoting a man they never met. They're fables. You can put us much faith in them as you want but it doesn't change the reality.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Ynotisay Actually our earliest 1st Century manuscripts are exactly what we have today. The transmission through the ages is 99% accurate, and that's rounding down without the decimal points.

Not one word is a fable except for that which is explicitly said to be parable and even the parables express truth.

I seriously recommend reading, or even Youtubing Lee Strobel or J. Warner Wallace. These men have deeply and seriously researched the evidence for the Bible and Christianity and make a solid car in favor of both. Heck, Strobel started his research as an atheist trying to debunk the Bible and now he's a pastor.

The evidence seriously speaks for itself

@TexasDude sorry I do not mean to be insulting but anyone who believes in the Bible is delusional or in denial of the truth. I do not understand how people continue to believe in the Bible.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@James25 Because of the sheer mountains of evidence supporting it. Historical, archaeological, philosophical...so much evidence in its favor. The works of Lee Strobel are a great starting place. He was an atheist trying hard to debunk the Bible. He studied the evidence and is now a pastor! Many similar stories exist of rational, educated people becoming Christians simply from looking objectively at the evidence that the Bible is true and reliable.

I've also experienced the God who wrote it and is it's star, for lack of a better word, character. I know Him well and have experienced His power and His peace and His Presence. I trust Him so I trust His Scriptures

Can you provide clear and legible copies of these 1st Century manuscripts?
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Diotrephes I don't personally have access to that. I'd have to try to research a good website or something. However even if I did find them they'd be in Hebrew or Greek

I did provide some good sources of information on this subject in my above comments

I can't read Hebrew so Greek would be much better.
