That is an Od Testament idea that a scapegoat could be used to carry away the sins of the group. It is also counter to the idea that each person will have an individual judgment on Judgment Day. If the Jesus character takes away the sins of the world then what is the point of having a Judgment Day? After all, he took away all of the sins so no one is stuck with any personal sins.

@Diotrephes When the Books are opened; The Bible, that every person is accounted to, and the Book with our names, with all our deeds and thoughts, then Jesus will either say welcome mychild, or I never knew you. And I hope you will not have to answer for your sins, but have your sins forgotten by Jesus. 🙂
