Therapy within Christianity

Do you think we can have both Jesus and therapy ?

Can you define what you mean by therapy? Much pastoral work includes counseling.

@hippyjoe1955 I’m referring to professional licensed psychologist who have years of training and experience.

@Adwoa Pastors are trained and professional and licensed. Not psychologists but trained nonetheless. I have yet to see any good come from psychologist/psychiatrist therapy.

@hippyjoe1955 pastors could be trained but they are definitely not licensed to any state board in particular at least in the country I’m from to do psychological assessment and analysis on patients as this path requires formal education in psychology and a doctorate but yes pastors could be like life coaches or “counselor”in a way and give some sort of advice but wouldn’t be allowed to call themselves legally a psychologist.

And also for therapy it’s more like trial and error to see which therapist best suits you same with church not every preacher is going to suit you but doesn’t mean that church is bad altogether because of one bad preacher. But everyone is different so I understand
