Christ statue hit by lightning

Actually, I'm wondering why that never happened before now. I think it was just coincidence.

It is probably just in area that is prone to lightning strikes. I read a article on it. They didn’t give any reason why it is striking it. They were saying that it has happened before. I think it has something to do with being tall and out in the open.

There is no special significance in that whatsoever.The highest part of a structure,especially if it has a pointed or angular shape,will often attract the electrical discharge that is lightning.

Things that make you go ....Hmmm. I was storm chasing one time and had set my camera up in a church parking lot to photograph the oncoming storm. When out of nowhere a lightning bolt came from behind me and struck the cross on the steeple of the church about 20 yrds from me , traveled down the roof and across the parking lot. With ever hair on my body standing on end and massive ringing in my ears , I grabbed my camera and tripod, threw the in my truck and beat feet. Wondered if someone was trying to tell my something? Hmmm ?

How many trees are hit every year by lightening? Tall objects? A lot of buildings have rods on them.

There is a church with two tall steeples I can see from my kitchen window that was being built in, I think, 1906, and was hit by lightning killing two workers. Don't ya think they shoulda interpreted that as a message from God and stopped?
