I recall reading the words of a Royal Navy chaplain on that very matter. He said he would tell the men he accepted they will swear, especially under stress, but did not want them blaspheming.

@SW-User I try not to swear,, blasphemy or otherwise, but do curse under stress - frequently at my own mistakes or clumsiness. I don't like it and am not proud of it.
I don't like gratuitous swearing. I used to work with someone who used the F-word so much in ordinary conversation that one day I remarked he'd "be lost without copulation". Then had to explain - he honestly didn't realise his habit.
That was in colloquial speech but a lot of SW users are habitually and needlessly potty-mouthed even here, in written messages.
