David might have been OK when he was a kid, but he was a real lousy bastard as a man. It doesn't say much for Jesus to claim him as a hero for personal character purposes.

King David loved God! But he lusted after a married woman, seduced her, and made her pregnant. To cover it up he put her husband in the front lines in Israel's war so he would get killed. God was angry with David.

What was David's punishment? God took his first born, he died. There is a consequence for our sins. David was very sorry and begged God for forgiveness. God blessed David ,and when he died God said "I loved him, he was a man after my own heart"

God loves us, this is why Jesus came as a little baby and there was no room for him in the Inn. He shows us that he understands our pain, our loneliness. He took our sins on his own shoulders on Calvary to prove how much he loves us and so so we can know him, and have eternal life. What an amazing God he is!
