Did the early christians wear crosses after Jesus Christ' death?

Did Jesus tell his folowers to wear a cross to prove that they loved God and to show that they are followers of Jesus Christ? No. So where did the idea of wearing a cross come from?

The cross was not used as a sign for Christianity until the 4th century. A few Christians tried to use it eariler than that but it was not widely considered a Christian symbol untill that time.
It was not used by the very earliest Christians yet.
The cross depicts the sacrifice/crucifixion of Jesus.
Wearing it is just a symbol of the sacrifice of Jesus. Different people wear it for different purposes. Its is not biblical but also not wrong. Most Christians wear it for beauty and to remind them of their faith. The cross is on or within the vast majority of churches.
You will see some papers say that the cross predates Christianity and that is true in a way because it is a very basic symbol to make and many religions used some symbol that looked close to a cross to represent their faith but non were related to crucifixion and Christians did not copy the cross symbol.

The Swastika is one such cross which also turns at right angles. It is an ancient cross used in Hinduism and some other religions such as pagan African beliefs.
Not related to the Christian cross.
@REMsleep Thank you very much for the history of the cross which proves that Jesus Christ and his followers/disciples and apostles never wore crosses. And yes the cross was a human invention/creation that was adopted by many religions that have deviated from pure true worship.
