Did the early christians wear crosses after Jesus Christ' death?

Did Jesus tell his folowers to wear a cross to prove that they loved God and to show that they are followers of Jesus Christ? No. So where did the idea of wearing a cross come from?

wearing a symbol of the object that essentially killed him has always baffled me. I dont get Christianity in the slightest
@Torsten true christians don't wear crosses. Your comment made me think of this illustration: You are offered the gun or a replica of the gun that killed/murdered your believed son. It is given to you in a necklace form. Why would I wear that constant reminder of the gun that took my son's life around my neck? To me that would be a constant painful reminder of the pain and anguish my son suffered just before he closed his eyes at death..

@seotelkniwt "True Christians"? Jesus did not set up an exclusive club.
@Torsten The Memorial of Jesus' death on Nisan 14 gives me a time to seriously ponder over what he went through in the last remaining hours of his life for obedient mankind. He willing sacrificed his perfect life for us as individuals.

@seotelkniwt Oooh, quoting Hebrew Calendar references to be further exclusive:)
@Zeusdelight traditions of the religious clergymen. Recitals and chants that modern day Pharisees and Sadducees recite does not prove that one has God's approval. So you are familiar with the Hebrew calendar? Quoting Hebrew references is nothing exclusive about that. Anyone can learn what the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures are teaching.

@seotelkniwt The chanting also does not prove they do not have God's approval. It is His approval that counts, not our thoughts about their actions.

Quoting Hebrew references in an American Web site about Christian matters is not about simply stating a date.
@Zeusdelight You said "references" with the letter "s". I only mentioned the date of Jesus death, which most nominal "christians" do not know about. The word/good news can be preached anywhere it needs to be preached, social media included.

@seotelkniwt You mentioned the date of death in a way most non-Hebrews would not understand for whatever reason.
@Zeusdelight I meant to mention it that way. I purposely did because I want those on this thread to do research for themselves and and in that way they will have added to their Bible knowledge which could help them get God's approval and more (John 17:3).
