Christian Daily Word (17)

Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!

Psalm 27:3 (NLT)
"Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident."

Analysis of the Daily Word

We can learn lessons from the bad examples of those who did not keep calm and trust in God. Studying those examples will help us not to trip over the same stone as them. For example, early in his reign, King Asa looked to God when he was in trouble. However, over time he stopped going to God for his help and preferred to do things his way. (2 Chronicles 16:1-3, and 12) Asa's idea of asking the Syrians for help fighting Israel might seem like a good one, but it didn't work in the long run. God told him through a prophet: "Because you trust in the king of Syria and do not trust in me, the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hands" (2 Chronicles 16:7) We too must be careful not to be so confident in our way of doing things that we do not seek God's help in his Word. Sometimes, we will be presented with situations where we have to make quick decisions. Even so, if we remain calm and trust in God, things will go well for us.

According to (Philippians 4:6, and 7), what can calm our worries?

#1 Pray constantly. We will be greatly relieved if we pray earnestly to God when trouble overwhelms us. (1 Peter 5:7) In answer to our prayers, we will receive "the peace of God, which is beyond what any human being can understand." (Philippians 4:6, and 7) God uses his mighty holy spirit to calm our anxieties. (Galatians 5:22)

What should we keep in mind when praying to God?

When you pray to God, open your heart wide to him. Be specific: Tell him what the problem is and how it makes you feel. If you have a solution, ask for wisdom to find it and the strength to put it into practice. If there is nothing you can do to fix the problem, ask God to help you not to worry too much. If your prayers are specific, over time you will see more clearly how God answered them. If the answer is not immediate, do not be discouraged or tired. God wants you to keep coming to him, and be consistent with him. (Luke 11:8-10)

What should we include in our prayers?

When you pray to God to let off some steam, it is important that you also think about all the good things you have despite the problems and thank him for them. There will be times when you will have a hard time finding the right words to express what you're feeling, however, remember that God can answer you even if you can only say: "Please help me!" (2 Chronicles 18:31 | Romans 8:26)
