Christian Daily Word (15)

Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!

Romans 8:38, and 39 (NLT)
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Analysis of the Daily Word

Jesus said that if we don't apply what we learn, we are like a man who builds his house on sand. He works hard, but his efforts are useless. Why? It is because, when storms and floods come, the house will collapse. (Matthew 7:24-27) Similarly, if we don't apply what we learn, our efforts will have been for nothing. When trials or persecution come, our faith will not be strong enough. On the other hand, if we study and apply what we learn...we will make better decisions, have more peace, and our faith will be strengthened. (Isaiah 48:17, and 18) To be loyal in the face of trials, we need to pray to God with confidence and have good study habits. We must not forget that one of the most important things we can do is bring glory to God. We can be sure that he will never abandon us and that no one can do anything to stop him from loving us. (Hebrews 13:5, and 6)

What could King David have done?

Imagine how David must have felt. He loved Absalom and trusted Ahithophel. Still, the two betrayed him. They caused him a lot of pain and even tried to kill him. David might have thought that his other friends had also joined Absalom and mistrusted them. He could have focused on his feelings and tried to flee the country on his own or in desperation, he could have given up. However, he didn't do any of that...rather, he passed this difficult test. How could he do it?

Meditate. What principles can we learn from this account? We can ask ourselves, "What did David do to help himself?" He did not allow fear to paralyze him or to make rash and unwise decisions. What he did was pray to God for his help. He also asked his friends for help! When he made decisions, he carried them out quickly, without procrastinating. Although he was very hurt, he did not become bitter or distrustful. He continued to trust God and his friends.

How did God help David?

If we investigate a little, we will learn that God gave him the strength he needed to endure that test. (Psalm 3:1-8) God blessed David's choices and supported the king's loyal friends as they fought to protect him.
