Christian Daily Word (12)

Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!

Genesis 3:4 (NLT)
"You won't die!" the serpent replied to the woman.

Analysis of the Daily Word

Satan was telling Eve that God had lied. Thus making him a devil, a slanderer. Eve was completely deceived and she believed Satan. (1 Timothy 2:14) She trusted him more than she did with God, and that led her to make the worst possible decision: to disobey God and eat the fruit of the tree that God has forbidden her not to touch. Then, she gave Adam a piece of the fruit too. (Genesis 3:6)

Let's think for a moment about how Eve should have responded to Satan Suppose she had said something like this to him: "I do not know you, but my Father, God, I do know. I love and trust him. He has given Adam and me everything we have. How dare you speak ill of him, leave me alone!". How happy God would have been if his daughter had shown love and loyalty to him with words like these. (Proverbs 27:11) However, neither she nor Adam had loyal love for God. Therefore, they did come out in defense of their Father's name.

How does Satan continue to slander God's name in our day, and with what results?

In our day, Satan tries to make people doubt God's power, justice, wisdom, and love. For example, he tries to convince people that God does not exist. If someone does believe in God, Satan will try to make his principles, rules, and love seem unfair and restrictive. Satan even promotes the idea that God is cruel and enjoys burning people in hell. Those who believe such slander are more likely to reject God's righteous authority. As long as he is not destroyed, Satan will continue to slander God's name and convince people to turn away from God. The question is: "Will he get away with it?".

Unlike Adam and Eve, what can we do?

God allows imperfect humans to help sanctify his name. So each of us can do what Adam and Eve did not do. Although in this world we are surrounded by people who blaspheme and slander God's name, we have the opportunity to defend the truth: that God is holy, just, good, and loving. (Isaiah 29:23) We can show that we want him to be our Ruler and tell people that his rule is the only true one and that he will bring peace and happiness to all creation! (Psalm 37:9, and 37 | 146:5, 6, and 10)
