Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!
Proverbs 12:25 (NLT)
"Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. A good word revives the heart.
Analysis of the Daily Word
When you read a Bible passage that shows that staying calm and trusting in God gives us strength, try to memorize some important verses. You may find it helpful to read them aloud, write them down, and or review them from time to time. God commanded Joshua to read the book of the Law and meditate on it day and night so that he would act wisely. Those reminders would help him overcome any fears he might have in the midst of the circumstances in which he found himself. (Joshua 1:8, and 9)
In God's Word, we will find many ideas that can help us remain calm in situations that would normally cause us fear or anxiety. (Psalm 27:1-3 | Proverbs 3:35, and 26) In our congregation meetings, we benefit from what is taught from the platform, from the comments that are offered, and from the good conversation with our fellow brothers and sisters. (Hebrew 10:24-25) We can also be very encouraged by opening our hearts to a dear friend of the congregation.
How can we find authentic protection?
Trust in God, not in yourself. In the 8th century before our era, the people of Judah were so afraid that the Assyrians would attack them and end up as their slaves that they asked Egypt for help. (Isaiah 30:1, and 2) God warned them that this path would lead to disaster. (Isaiah 30:7, 12, and 13) Through Isaiah, God told his people how to find authentic protection. Isaiah said, "Your strength will depend on your keeping calm and showing confidence" in God. (Isaiah 30:15)
Let's look at some situations in which we can show that we trust in God. Imagine that you were offered a very well-paid job but it would take up a lot of your time and affect your spiritual activities. Perhaps, a co-worker showed romantic interest in you but you are not yet baptized. A family member of yours, who loves you very much even gives you an ultimatum: "Choose: either your God or me." Facing these situations is not easy, but in each case, God gives us the guidance we need. (Matthew 6:33 | 10:37)
With all the evidence provided, has it brought you closer to God? Will we show confidence in Him and follow his lead? (1 Corinthians 7:39)
