Christian Daily Word (7)

Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!

Acts 1:8 (NLT)
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Analysis of the Daily Word

Jesus encouraged us to insistently ask for holy spirit. (Luke 11:9, and 13) God uses the holy spirit to give us "the power that goes beyond normal". (2 Corinthians 4:7) With the help of his spirit, we can endure any test or obstacle. Furthermore, this strength helps us to fulfill the responsibilities well received in our service to God and can enhance our talents and abilities. In fact, we know that the good results we achieve serving God are not due to our efforts, but to the help of his holy spirit. We show that we value the holy spirit by asking God to help us detect any wrong thoughts or desires in our hearts. (Psalm 139:23, and 24)

In answer to our prayers, God can make us see through his spirit if there is something we need to correct. If that should happen, let us ask the holy spirit to give us the strength to fight against bad thoughts or desires. This will show that we do not want to do anything that prevents God from continuing to help us with his spirit. (Ephesians 4:30)

What steps must be taken to have a "close friendship" with God?

Today, millions of imperfect humans have a beautiful friendship with God. Many men, women, and children around the world are showing by their behavior and actions that they want to be God's friends. The Bible says that God "has a close friendship" with upright people. (Proverbs 3:32) They can enjoy this friendship because they have faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and because of the ransom, God grants us the honor of dedicating ourselves to him and being baptized. As we take these important steps, we join the millions of dedicated, baptized Christians who already enjoy "close friendship" with the greatest person in the universe.

How can we show gratitude for friendship with God?

Imitating Abraham and Job is the answer. They remained faithful to God for over a hundred years. We must do the same, no matter how long we have been serving God in this wicked system that is being controlled by Satan, the Devil. We should also imitate Daniel and value our friendship with God more than our own life. (Daniel 6:7, 10, 16, and 22) With God's help, we can endure any trial and maintain our close friendship with him. (Philippians 4:13)
