Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!
Ecclesiastes 1:7 (NLT)
"Rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows out again to the sea."
Analysis of the Daily Word
There is liquid water on Earth because our planet is at the perfect distance from the Sun. If it were a little closer, all the water would evaporate, and the planet would be nothing more than a hot, bare rock. If it were a little further away, all the water would freeze, and the planet would turn into a big ball of ice. God placed the Earth in this ideal location, the water cycle can support life.
How does this cycle work? The Sun heats the water in the oceans and on the Earth's surface, and the water that evaporates ends up forming clouds. Every year, the Sun evaporates almost 500,000 cubic kilometers (120,000 cubic miles) of water. The water stays in the atmosphere for about ten days, then falls as rain or snow, and ends up back in the oceans or other bodies of water. The cycle starts again. This effective and sustainable cycle demonstrates that God is wise and powerful. (Job 36:27, and 28)
Humans have the ability to draw moral lessons from the experiences of the past. Remembering and analyzing these experiences help us to adopt higher moral values and correct our way of thinking and actions. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 | Colossians 3:9, and 10) In fact, we can train our conscience to know right from wrong. (Hebrew 5:14) We learn to express love, compassion, and mercy as well as develop a balanced sense of justice.
