Chronicles of a Christian Teen #9
Patience?
Do you ever daydream? Do you ever get lost in your thoughts as you make up "perfect" scenarios? Maybe the scenarios are about a potential relationship, circumstance, or simply just about the future. I know I get caught up daydreaming quite often, probably way more than I'm supposed to. It can be fun to try to live out what we think to be perfect situations in our heads. A good majority of these potential situations we take to heart, and therefore, we take to God in prayer. Maybe you've been praying for a certain person, thing, or instance for quite a while now, or maybe you just started.
Regardless, it can be pretty frustrating if it feels like God hasn't answered your prayer. The frustration transpires into anger and even discouragement within, especially in times of urgency. It's quite natural to feel this way when we don't get what we want, right when we want it. In the times we feel this way, let's remember: Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT) says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord." "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
God can answer our prayers one of three ways: He can answer right away, in His timing, or maybe not at all. Although we might think that our ways are going to be good for us, we only see a piece. God sees the whole puzzle. He knows all of the right elements that will truly benefit us in the future and promote our growth. He also recognizes the things that would be detrimental to us if we got our way. In the time of waiting, take heart. Although you may be anxious or antsy, remember that God's timing is perfect. You may be struggling with impatience now, but you will recognize and be grateful for God's timing in the future.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NLT) says: "The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride." At this moment, hold steadfast and strengthen your faith, because, through Him, anything is possible. All it takes to get there is God's will, a little patience, and a believing heart.
Amen 😇❤️🌹
