"Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words

by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."

It’s sad how people have added a negative connotation to the idea of dominance and submission. Leadership and dominance don’t mean abuse. If you abuse the person(s) you’re leading/dominating, you’re a bad leader. If you’re submitting out of pure fear and not out of love and respect, you’re a bad follower. Yes, this passage can be twisted to justify abuse, but this is due to human error and sin, not due to the passage itself. People have used the Bible to justify genocide, but that doesn’t make the Bible wrong; it makes people wrong.

Dominance and submission can and should be beautiful when done right. We submit to God. We submit to our government. We submit to our bosses. No one blinks an eye at these things. But when we dare suggest that women should submit to their husbands, people freak out. Humans need a leadership structure to function as a society.

@RopinTexan don’t try and justify it, equality is the only truth

@Ferise1 Equality of value and equality of roles/function are not the same thing. You can have one without the other.

@Ferise1 You don’t allow children to drive, drink, or own a home, do you? Does that mean that children are less valuable than adults?
