1 Peter.2- Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority:

whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. 17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. --The Holy Bible

Which emperor?
Carazaa · F
@HarryHawk You tell me.. In some way we have, in some ways we haven't.There was slavery. Is that something to be proud of? There has been more poverty in the USA than in many European countries, more gun violence, and more racism. We need to be more loving in my opinion or we wont be blessed by God.
msros · F
@Carazaa It has become Gun bless America.
Carazaa · F
@msros America is getting a bad reputation. Our government needs to care more about what God wants than their votes. Be brave and do the RIGHT THING!
What if the authority is not a Christian?

God says that he appoints all leaders over us. In a passage I read yesterday it said submit to even a bad ungodly leader. God tests us how submissive we are, and if we do as he says to love our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us. He gives us the leaders we deserve.
If we put Jesus first he will give us good leaders. If there is a bad leader God hears our prayers if we put him first and don't sin, God tells us he does not hear our prayers if we are sinning.
@Carazaa But, if we are supposed to submit to the leader, isn’t that putting them above God? Shouldn’t we submit to God? And, since we are all sinners saved by Grace, doesn’t he still listen to our prayers, knowing we will never be perfect and will always have our sin-nature? Also, wouldn’t God rather we put our faith in Him, rather than an ungodly leader who has a God complex?

I believe from my experience and reading the Bible that three things are necessary for God to hear our prayers
1. We must be born again (the Holy Spirit must have come into our heart).
2. We must be obedient to everything God says, and put God first in our life with our money, time, and loving people, and forgiven everyone.
3. We must have faith that he is a rewarder of those who love him and that he will answer our prayer.

Daniel was ordered to not pray or worship God but the governor, or he would be killed but most of us are not killed for praying. We can still worship God.
If we can't or if we are told to do something ungodly or we would be killed we must follow God and be killed because we care more about God, that is true.

@Carazaa Right. If my boss tells me to fudge the figures, I won't do it - even if I lose my job. If my boss gives me a job I really don't want to do, I'll do it - and hopefully cheerfully, although I need to work on that last bit sometimes.
