Chronicles of a Christian Teen #7

Temptation?

Temptation is a real struggle that we face every day. Unfortunately, we live in a world full of fleshly desires. We are constantly surrounded by it, and sometimes it feels as if we cannot escape it. These fleshly distractions can come in many different forms. Many times, Satan, the Devil, can even trick us into thinking these distractions can be quite appealing - sometimes it may even look fun!

We live in a wicked world, and it seems like, especially today, that certain temptations have become a "norm" in today's
society. However, my fellow believers, do not be misled and held captive by Satan's traps. These traps lead you to bad paths that can cost you your life and could even put a damper on your fellow relationships with others. When you give in to temptation, it can lead to addiction that would be difficult to let go of once you have started. Make sure to guard your heart and mind! Why? Temptations become as soon as your mind gets in the gutter. This includes when you look at someone's backside as you walk past them or something along those lines.

The times we give in to temptation are most often the times in which we are spiritually weak and vulnerable to such mental attacks from Satan and his wicked demons who are eager to prey on our mindsets. If we are active in God's Word, we are given the strength to say "NO!" to temptation.

Here are some encouraging scriptures to use when you pray to our Heavenly Father and you can even use these to reflect and apply the counsel to your daily lives...

Matthew 26:41 (NLT) says: "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Philippians 4:7 (NLT) says: "The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

1 Peter 5:8 (NLT) says: "Be alert and of sober mind, because your enemy, the Devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

Every day, we are fighting a spiritual battle - flesh vs the righteous principles of God. Sometimes, it may feel as if you are fighting this battle on your own, however, do not be discouraged. You're not alone. Many of us spiritual brothers and sisters are facing the same challenge as you. There is someone greater who is able to relate and understand as well. Jesus Christ, he was tempted when he was on the Earth. He knows how difficult it is. He knows that temptation is a burden.

Take into account that Jesus was able to overcome temptation and live perfectly, without sin, and willingly allowed himself to be sacrificed on the stake to free us from our sins. Therefore, even if we do fall into temptation, we have forgiveness of our sins through His death and resurrection. If we cling to Jesus and have Him by our side, through Him, we are able to overcome anything, for "with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26)

Amen 😇❤️🌹
