Without God everything is vanity, futile! Without God only one story can be told and that is the story of how absurd everything is. Without God man is

In relationship with nothing but himself ultimately. He has nothing to choose and he's just piece of clay, so whatever the clay wants, that's the object of that exercise.

Here is a list of Solomon's vanities. Now, at the end of his life, Solomon was a man who said that his life was empty and had no real value and was worthless. Solomon was a man who had it made; he was one of the most successful, wealthy, educated and wise people on the earth, yet we get to see his mind at the end of his life, where he says he wasted his life. He wasted his life because he did not prepare to die; he did not prepare for the afterlife. Here is a list of Solomon's vanities:

Works done under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:4)

The enjoyment of pleasure (Ecc 2:1)

Wisdom (Ecc 2:15)

Leaving your goods to someone else (Ecc 2:21)

The labour of wicked people who will have to be passed to those who are 'good' (Ecc 2:26)

A man's physical life (Ecc 3:19)

A man being envied for doing right (Ecc 4:4)

A man who lives for himself (Ecc 4:7)

The failure of a leader to be appreciated (Ecc 4:16)

The love of money (Ecc 5:10)

The inability to enjoy wealth (Ecc 6:2)

Coveting - by letting your desires wander all over the place to lust after various things (Ecc 6:9)

The unsatisfied appetite (Ecc 6:7)

The laughter of the fool (Ecc 7:6)

No wonder that at the conclusion of Solomon's sermon, he cries out 'Vanity of vanities; all is vanity!' He begins and ends his sermon with the same text (Ecc 1:2 - Ecc 12:8).

Don't pursue things that don't transfer over at death. Live your life cognizant of the fact that your life is short and spend your time glorifying Jesus Christ and setting your affection on Heavenly things. Make sure you get to the end of your life like the Apostle Paul who said, I am now ready to be offered and the time my departure is at hand. He said, I have fought the good fight. He said, I have finished my course. And he said, I have kept the faith. He said, I am ready to die.

If and when the day arrives there is evidence to conclude there is life after death, and I mean cold, hard, empirical evidence then and only then shall I start making strides in that direction. But I absolutely refuse to bow and worship any being. I am not some pawn

@JestAJester Ironically, if there were cold, hard, empirical evidence then you would be a pawn. There will never be empirical evidence before you die. You either believe by faith or you don't. Let me explain: If you could fit the infinite God who is beyond time space and matter into your limited three pound brain, He would not be worth worshipping. How is it reasonable to presume that a human being who can only detect 0.0035 percent of the electromagnetic spectrum -visible light - (of which that entire electromagnetic spectrum itself is only a fraction of what can be seen and exists in the universe) can possibly fit God into the limited box of "proof" and "evidence" that said human being created? Absolutely absurd. We can't hear a dog whistle or even see certain patterns on plants that some insects can see. To base your views on what is seen and by your 5 senses is insane. Materialism is insane and it is so insane it isn't worth saying another word about it. Now, common sense tells us there is a creator because if there is a creation, there had to be a creator, just like if there is a building there had to be a builder, or if there is a painting there had to be a painter. However, the God of the Bible (the one true God) requires faith, which is exactly what a loving God would want us to have, because he did not create us as angelic robots on repeat, forced into accepting Him. If there were cold, hard, empirical evidence for God and specifically for the God of the Bible, then we would not have free will and the choice to believe in Him and we would be forced into accepting Him. THAT would be a cruel God. Thankfully He isn't some dictator in the sky controlling everything and holding us all on strings like puppets. Talk about being pawns.

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:16 that without faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Romans 1:20 says, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse...."

And remember what Jesus said to Thomas, "Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
@JestAJester There WAS evidence and there IS evidence. People just don't want to see it or accept it.

Jesus came and more than proved Himself, showing miracle after miracle, right in front of their eyes. Some STILL refused to believe.

He fulfilled His mission, then returned to His Father in heaven. How ungrateful some are. Some just ignored Him, like they do today.

He doesn't need to prove Himself again, or at all. He already did that and look where it got Him. Look what they did to Him. Hung Him on the cross. No....once was quite enough, after the extent of suffering He endured, just to "prove" Himself to us.

He doesn't play those games, nor accept excuses and insults, as to why we don't want to believe. He knows who truly wants to know Him. He is King of Kings; not a pawn in the hands of scoffers, cursors, and mockers.

Since He is in heaven with His Father, obviously no longer physically seen...it now takes faith, taking Him at His Word. What arrogance, for any to tell the God of this universe, who died for our sins, what we will or will not do, regarding Him. Yet, He is coming soon, but by then it will be too late to say, "I believed Lord!" Or...."I believe!" He's not coming to prove anything to anyone. He's coming to fulfill prophecy and to establish His Earthly Kingdom....the New Jerusalem, right here on earth. No sin can enter its gates. This is why it is wise to prepare now for His coming. After He comes, it will be too late to change our minds and claim we believe.

Where do you think our conscience came from? God gave it, so we would know of the existence of the God of this universe and our living soul, longs to fellowship with God, who created it.

@LadyGrace I only skimmed through this because I pretty much knew what you two were gonna say. A lot of biblical propaganda I've heard all my life and I am not impressed. If God is as powerful as you say, as all knowing as you say, wouldn't he, I dunno, find a way to bring me back to the fold so to speak? Surely he knows people like me exist? Some far more extreme than I am. Does God not love all this children? Does he not want us all to be with him? Faith is blind, faith is for sheep. Faith is literally belief in something without evidence. If we lived any aspect of our lives by faith, it would get you nowhere except maybe on the side of the road holding a "will work for food" sign.

Would you care about a parent you've never met? Say you had a father you've never seen before and all you have to go on is what your mother tells you. That he loves you blah blah blah but does nothing for you? You have never seen evidence of that love. How can one possibly grow up loving someone they don't know. Don't tell me you can know God, because if I believe what is written in the Bible, he sounds awfully proud and jealous, cruel even. "But he doesn't want to do those awful things, he weeps when he has to punish us." I've read those verses, the punishment does not fit the crimes.

No I'll stick to my current lifestyle for the moment. Happier now then when I was a believer. Atleast now there are no longer unanswered questions, because many of the questions I had that no one could answer simply do not have an answer. I live a good life. I treat people well, I try to do what is right or rather what I believe is the right thing to do and I no longer live in existential horror

@LadyGrace No, there isn't evidence. There is faith.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Paladin Faith is pretending to know something that you do not know.

I prefer not to live my life in pretence

@SW-User
if there is a creation, there had to be a creator
There has to be a creator only if there is a creation and there has to be a creation only if there is a creator... round and round and round

@newjaninev2 round round we go, where we'll stop nobody knows 🎼
