Is your house on fire?
Christians are not asking that you believe in God because they said so. They are only pointing out that there's something in our lives that Jesus said each person on earth needs to address, because their soul never dies and where it ends up after it crosses over into eternity, is very crucial to know. Not just any "Higher Power" will help us. Jesus knows how.
Jesus isn't here in person anymore to spread his good message on how we can all be assured of having eternal life in heaven. Before He left this earth, he told his disciples to go into the world and spread his message for him. People will hear and then decide, but at least He wanted to make sure everyone heard His divine message, so they wouldn't have to guess about how to get to heaven. Or miss it.
If you were out in the ocean in a little boat and fell overboard by mistake, I could attempt to save you, but unless you took my hand or oar and let me help you, there's nothing I could do.
If you were trapped in a huge house fire, I'd risk my life, before I'd see you die. I'd do everything within my power to save you. But there's one thing I could never do for you, but would if I could.
We're all in the same spiritual boat. Everyone in this world has a soul that is spiritually lost, until they let Jesus help them. He says so in His Word. Our spiritual house is on fire, and unless we ask Jesus to save us, we'll perish, and He is not willing that any perish, so he sent people who have heard His message, to relay it to others, so they would know how to have heaven when they cross over. He's hoping and praying, everyone will hear Him and take His message to heart. No one could ever love us like Jesus, and He proved that when He died to cover our sins with His blood, so that sin could never hold any power over us again nor condemn us. When we come to Jesus, He forgives all our sins and remembers them no more. Jesus' blood has that power and authority, because His blood is pure and therefore, worthy to erase sins. If we'll let Him.
