Why Would A Christian Do This?

Discourage other Christians from telling the world about the rapture of the church and the 7 year of tribulation written in scripture reserved for those left behind?

Simple.

They're not living right and aren't sure they'll make it on the first flight. They get uncomfortable hearing about the rapture because they're so comfortable living a life of sin.

Did I leave anything?

I have discouraged one poster, in particular, from posting beyond the word by adding to it with that person's own "teachings" and phrasing it as though those personal views are equivalent to a command from, say, Jesus.

I also try to discourage that sort of thing because it feeds into bad stereotypes of how evangelists can be.

In my experience, beating people over the head with something which fires "you" (any poster, not directed at you, @karysma) up doesn't typically lead to the desired result in anything, including a religious point of view.
