On a scale of 1 to 100, how confident are you that you are not deceived? And how do you think a person can be certain that they are not being deceived?

@ShadowSister

Thanks for asking!

I know when God saved me. I remember it clearly. I had prayed for wisdom to know who he is and that’s all I wanted as a child, to know him. I wrote on my wall to Jesus when I was about 7 Yrs old “God first, people second, and me last, I’ll go wherever you want me to go and do what you want me to do. My life is yours!”
I was young, I think I was a Christian but it was questionable. Because I relied a lot on my own understanding. I did what I thought was best and I listened to worldly music at times and did not read my Bible every day.

But God might have been drawing me to himself in my childhood, before he saved me that’s possible. But after I started to put Jesus first in every aspect of my life the last 40 years, I don’t lean on my own understanding any more but in all things I acknowledge Christ, and he directs my steps! Every day I pray all day for his leading to direct my steps, my mind, my mouth. All I want is for God to be pleased with me! I am not perfectly but I know 100% he walks with me, protects me, and he answers my prayers. He might not be pleased with me all the time but I am always wanting him to be pleased with me and to use me, and I don’t want to let him down for a second. God has feelings. I think about his feeling all day, just want to make him happy. He is watching us and is counting on us to resist the devil, with 100 million angels on our side. We better behave. Eternity is on the line!
Did you read my miracle post 5 on my profile?
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Carazaa If I understand correctly, you are 100% certain that you are not deceived. And your reasons are because God answers prayers. Of the nine miracles you listed, I counted four of them as concerning financial/jobs (1, 3, 4, 8); three concerning health/safety (2, 5, and 9); and two concerning getting providential closure when your parents passed away (6 and 7). So your certainty is based in your circumstances where you were kept financially and physically safe. Did I miss anything or misunderstand? Or did I get it basically right?

@ShadowSister JESUS is my "JEHOVAH JIREH" my provider, He is "JEHOVAH RAPHA" my healer, "JEHOVAH SHAMMAH" He is with me, and He supplies all of my needs! He helps me and I am blessed.
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Carazaa So yes then? And would you say that if someone follows a religion, and if they are blessed with financial and physical safety in response to prayer, they can therefore be 100% certain that their religion is correct?

@ShadowSister

1. I am 100% certain God saved me.
2. I am 100% certain the Bible is true! Not because I feel it but because of the prophesies that have come true. God knows the future.
3. I am 100% certain that there is no other way to be saved but by following Jesus, who died for the world's sins.
4. I am 100% certain that only Jesus answers prayers. "Ask me anything in my name, and I will do it" John 14:14
5. I am 100% certain that if you tithe first 10 % of your gross paycheck to a Biblical church, God will WOW you. He says "Test me"
6. I am 100% certain that you will be successful if you put Jesus first. I did, my family has, and God moves.
7. I am 100% certain that if a country puts Jesus first it will prosper, and NO enemy will take it!

@Carazaa I'm interested in exploring your reasons. Numbers 1, 3, and 7 are assertions rather than reason. No shade, I respect those beliefs. But I'm not going to address them because they don't really answer the question of how you can know you're not being deceived, i.e. they are assertions rather than reasons.

Number 2 was a new reason that you haven't mentioned in the past, fulfilled prophecy.

Numbers 4-6 are about the results of your faith. You know you cannot be deceived because of answered prayer, financial benefits in tithing, and family success.

I don't want to put words in your mouth. I want to make sure I have fully understood what you are saying so that we are not just talking past each other. Your answer is that you can know that you are not deceived because of miracles (specifically answered prayer, financial blessings in response to tithing, and success); and because fulfilled prophecy. Is that basically right? Or have I missed anything?

To answer your question more directly about other religions and blessings. I know God, and the Bible confirms it. However, God blesses people whether we believe in him or not in this life. If you have no faith at all, if you're an atheist, God will still bless you. He doesn't answer prayers unless we walk with the Holy Spirit though, and we won't have our sins forgiven. We'll have to be punished for them ourselves.

There is one God who made this world, His name is Jesus. He makes it rain on the Christians and the non-Christians. The sun shines for the Godly and the ungodly.

BUT if you honor and follow Jesus, and put him first, and really mean it, keep his commands, honor your parents, honor the Sabbath day and keep it Holy, and don't steal, and don't murder (treat others as yourself regardless of what they do to you) Then God will protect you, answer your prayers, and give you eternal life. If you are born again you will go to heaven.

@Carazaa Okay, but I am asking one single question. How do you know? In the post above, you asserted that many people are deceived. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of how you know that you are not deceived. You just gave me three paragraphs about WHAT you believe, and the consequences of what follows if what you believe is true. But I am asking what REASONS you have for believing (cf 1 Peter 3:15). So far it appears that you've given me two reasons: miracles and fulfilled prophecy.

I'm not trying to trick you or trap you. I'm only saying back to you what you've said to me. I don't want to put words in your mouth. So I'm asking to make sure I am not misrepresenting your beliefs.

I am simply asking for your confirmation, have I understood you correctly? Or do you feel like I have misrepresented what you believe?

@ShadowSister I am sorry that I am not very clear. What I can say is what Jesus said
[c=BF0000]"my own hear my voice" [/c]
Only born-again people can hear God's voice, and identify Satan.
[c=BF0000] "I am the way, the truth, the life no one comes to the Father but through me"[/c]
I came to know truth early but in college I wanted to learn about other religions, and I read many books about many religions but none satisfies like the Bible. It is Gods word and he will teach you about himself and also about Satan the liar. The Bible will give you the peace that surpassing all understanding.
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Carazaa You know you are not deceived about the Bible because the Bible tells you that you are not deceived about the Bible.

@ShadowSister

I know God!

Like I said you must be born again. It is a gift from God! You will know it when it happens.

God will give you wisdom from His word, The Holy Spirit in your heart, and him helping you without you even asking. He opens doors for you if you are his.

Observe the Christian countries that have had Christian governments for a thousand years. They prosper! You know when people are happy, there is no crime, everyone is successful, families are happy, etc.

Then observe the Atheist countries China, North Korea, Russia, or the Muslim, or Hindu, or Buddist, more unhappiness People try to flee!

His truth is marching on!
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Carazaa I asked you a question at the beginning of this comment thread. And you gave your answer. Then I did my best to just mirror that answer back to you in my own words, asking if I was understanding you correctly. I have done that four times. All four times you have refused to tell me whether I have correctly understood you or not. And the final time, you added a new a circular argument that requires someone to already agree with you in order to accept what you are saying.

I do not think you are engaged in this discussion in good faith with me. So I'm going to suggest we end this discussion.

Sounds good!

Just for your information! A few days ago, you were telling me you had enough of discussion, but then you came back to boldly ask me question after question and I patiently forgave you for being disrespectful, and I have spent many hours answering all of your questions to the best of my ability!

I went all out for you, ignoring my family and my work at times just for you and you are not grateful at all, but criticizing my honest attempt to answer how I know God and the Holy Spirit is in my heart.

It is difficult to share how God saved me. I was blind, but now I see that's all I can say! God does the miracle work, not me. I suggest you ask God for answers if you really want to know which I doubt now. You just like to criticize!

Have a good day!
