@hippyjoe1955 So what if a person is only new in the faith? Someone who is still learning what the bible teaches. Does he have a way of discerning if his faith is genuine?

@CallistaSloane The best thing you can do is to hang around those who have been in the faith for years. The other thing is to trust fully in Him. You are His work to complete not something you do on your own. You do what you can in faith and leave the rest for Him to take care of you. Don't be afraid to give in to Him. How long have you been a Christian?

[@hippyjoe195 I have accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior many years ago. However, I am fully aware that my faith is not perfect because no one else has. Probably, I'm just overwhelmed by my circumstances right now that I am starting to doubt my sincerity with the Lord. And that pains me. I need to be reassured that I'm still on the right track, so to speak.
And pardon me for disagreeing partially with what you said that the best thing to do is hang around Christians who are in the faith for years. That may be good but certainly not the best because like me, they are still imperfect no matter how long in the faith. And I know that you know that. :)

@CallistaSloane The reason you hang with older Christians is because they likely have gone through the same issues you are presently having. Yes they are not perfect. No one is but God but they have had years of experience you haven't. I am sure there is someone you can connect with in the Christian community that will help assure you in your struggles. I know I have had my share of them and I have all too often failed. But I pick myself up and press on toward the fullness found only in Christ Jesus our Lord knowing that He is faithful and shall surely save me unto that day.
