Why did Jesus say "Your sins are forgiven" to a paralyzed man? Why is this significant? The most significant verses in the entire Bible maybe!

[quote][big]Jesus tepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!” 4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man. Faith brings forgiveness

@Grvstu Yes absolutely! But why did Jesus say what he said to a paralyzed man?
@Carazaa because the man believed Jesus was/is who He claimed to be. The Son of the living God. The messiah.Christ not only knew the man wanted his physical condition healed but also his sins. Christ knows what’s inside the person. Jesus knew the man’s heart.

@Thedoorislocked Yes our sins are what is the real problem! Maybe the man thought about his sins, but I think he said it because anyone can say your sins are forgiven? But he wanted to prove it. He proved it by healing the sickness.

@Carazaa i believe it was for the benefit of the rabbis, synagogue leaders, and spies. yet another way to exhibit his legitimacy claiming to be the long awaited Messiah

@1490wayb Yes, He proved He is God, not only to them but to all of us right there.
