So what variant strain of Christianity do you follow?
Summersrain · 51-55, F
@twofacetoo My own strain
twofacetoo · 26-30, M
@Summersrain I'm an atheist myself but I'm pretty sure you don't get to pick and choose aspects of a religion to follow and still claim you're following the religion
Doesn’t work like that. You follow Jesus and God’s word or your own. You can’t do both. @Summersrain
Summersrain · 51-55, F
@twofacetoo I'd say you can. The bible consists of a lot of myths and legends predating christianity, the old testament that is, but I believe Jesus existed. But the bible was written by man and a lot of it got twisted
twofacetoo · 26-30, M
@Summersrain I get that, the bible is basically another three translations away from being a cook-book by this point, but what I'm saying is you can't make up your own ideas and then claim it's a religion just because you like the sound of one idea over another
If you're a Christian then you follow the bible, if you're Jewish then you stick with the old testament, you don't mix and match to come up with your own fun alternative.
Summersrain · 51-55, F
@twofacetoo ok well i could say I'm a follower of jesus. I follow his teachings, but not a lot of what else is written in the bible
The Bible was written by man who heard God’s word spoken to them. The Old Testament was about the law. Jesus came to save us from depending totally upon the law our sins. Christians believe Jesus is the one and true God. Don’t focus on the Old Testament, but the New Testament....when Jesus was born. Christians believe in the birth, the death, and the resurrection and that Salvation is key. If you don’t believe those things then you might need to ask yourself what makes you a Christian.@Summersrain

@Summersrain I mean you do you, I'm not trying to shit on your beliefs, my philosophy is 'live and let live', I'm just saying I don't think you can be a Christian if you don't actually follow the bible itself. I mean I've known people who claimed they were Christians but they didn't go to church and didn't pray. I mean if you don't do any of that, why bother claiming that you're part of the group that exclusively do?
Summersrain · 51-55, F
@twofacetoo I do pray. But I don't think the bible was written how Jesus had meant it to be written. Just because the bible is wrong in places doesn't make Jesus wrong
God is perfect...he chose the men to write the Bible. God is not flawed and neither is the Bible. It was written exactly how he wanted it written.@Summersrain
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 yes, in fact, the Bible says that a double-minded person is unstable in all his ways. We either follow Christ , or not at all.
@Summersrain We cannot pick and choose which verses we wish to follow. Following Jesus is total commitment. He does not want half our hearts. We either follow him all the way, or not at all. The key to salvation is total commitment.
Exactly. You do not get to pick and choose. You either follow Christ and God’s word or you don’t. @twofacetoo
