I will say staged.

The slap does look fake but the rest doesn't so I have to believe that it was real. My opinion is that he shouldn't get away with it unscathed. I can understand protecting your wife but she wasn't under physical threat, she's a grown up who can speak for herself and if he'd gone up and slapped a female comedian he would be cancelled for life. I'm not advocating any kind of cancelling but he should face some kind of punitive measure. It's not OK to just assault people who say things that you don't like.
