Was will smith hitting Chris warranted?

testbutton · 51-55, M
It was the first hit he had in 20 years...
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@testbutton Touché!
BlueVeins · 22-25
Of course not, it was an unprovoked act of violence. This probably woulda ended his career then and there if he'd have slapped a woman under the same circumstances.

The incident was just the latest display of what a weird place Hollywood & the film world are. Fake people all wrapped up in themselves and completely divorced from reality; from anything that actually matters.
Cowboybob · M
Whether warranted or not, it shouldn’t have happened. Turned the whole night into “about Will” rather than the other performers

To get some attention for the Academy Awards they probably think so. Am thinking now it was scripted.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Nope -- arrest and charge the look-at-me-I'm-so-macho boob for assault and battery.

I don’t believe so. It screams insecurity and inadequacy.

What’s super weird is everyone pretended like it didn’t happen.
Human1000 · M
@SW-User No one wanted to hurt their chances of working with him. Pathetic.
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User You nailed it. And for me it spoke to "Hollywood" talking the talk but not walking the walk. "They" fall over themselves with their sensibilities but when push came to shove, or words came to physical violence, they didn't step up.
Ynotisay · M
Not even close. Considering that he laughed at the joke I'd say he's the real joke. He could have said something from his seat. He could have acted like a man and handled it backstage. But he didn't. He's always been pure arrogance to me and that showed it in spades. "Look at me."

The Oscars should have walked him out of the theater immediately. The fact that he got to spew his weepy nonsense for five minutes was pure horseshit.
wackidywack · 22-25
I understand he was upset I can imagine that situation could have been handled better than slapping the person in front of an entire audience at an awards show being filmed to be shown in various places in the world
Teslin · M
I have mixed feelings.
Chris Rock overstepped boundaries for sure.
But after thinking more about it, so did Will Smith. He could have handled it better.
Freeranger · M
I care about that about as much as I care about reading anything about Hollyweird. They all deserve each other.

Remember when cable TV first came out and was commercial free
Really · 80-89, M
@MarineBob Ad-free Cable TV? I don't think I ever knew about that. So somebody had figured out how to make popular non commercial content at a price customers would pay? What put an end to that business model? It surely wasn't consumer preference 🙄.
Barny52 · 56-60, M
best actor says it all xx no publicity is the only bad publicity !!
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Probably not
Of course not
Serendipitymaybe · 51-55, M

There is another thread here where women said they wanted to be hit by Will Smith. I guess if you’re famous people welcome being slapped? I’ve seen it all now.
Old news, move on.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@aboveaverageaveragejoe but you the one who commented on a post made in March
Lilnonames · F
Both actors are has been and had to do something to get back in the news
empanadas · 31-35, M
No, I understand why he did it but he should had done it after the awards. It ruined his moment when he won an Oscar. Something he worked hard for decades to obtain.
