When did Tina Turner evolve from talking like a country ghetto broad to some European accent?

I am watching a documentary with home video footage of her back in the Ike and Tina days. There is a scene with her talking to someone while cooking and she sounds like a normal southern black chick from TN. Looks like somewhere in the 80s when her solo career took off, she "lost" that accent and started talking like she was Europe.

That is fake to me.
