No what he did can never be overlooked..
But...
Hes got bills to pay like everyone else and thats his job. Its not healthy to hang on to things. He's lost respect from a lot of people as he should have. Now he has to build on whats left..
I personally wont watch him again, because he isn't genuine and hes hiding a lot of secrets and i dont like that.

@Primnproper What does his bills have to do with anything? Who is paying for a movie ticket because the multimillionaire in it has bills? He is set for life - in fact, several lifetimes. He is blessed so much that he doesn't have to work again in life. In fact, he can live like an actual king for life. But he didn't love or appreciate all that God has given him enough to not allow the Devil to win. He also gave no thought to Chris Rock's bills or his job as he emasculated him in front of his children and woman and peers in the business. Rock is going to have to live with that for the rest of his life because the world will never let him forget it.

@AmericanAvenger I'm not a Smith fan but Rock made money out of it in his performances..Rocks also made money out humiliating various people, celebrities in his performances..
Hanging on to the hate is never a good or a healthy thing, in fact its distasteful..
Both men leave a bad taste for different reasons..but you get over it..

@Primnproper If you are equating a comedian making jokes about other people to a man physically assaulting another man in front of the entire industry on national television, you dont understand what it is to be a real man.
The fact that Rock declined to press charges and did some profitable shows to joke about it instead is not a concession or some compensating outcome for him - he was selling out shows before Smith's attack. That is why he was hosting the Oscars in the first place. Getting slapped by Smith did not enrich him or enhance his career. To do what Rock does at the level that he does it, he had great confidence and self awareness - and had grown to the point that he had gained great respect and admiration. A humiliation like this could damage some or all of these things.
People in and outside of the industry will forever see Rock differently - even if they respect the way that he carried himself in the aftermath. Many will always see him as the weaker victim who could not do anything to defend his own manhood in front of every person that knows him. Notwithstanding, Rock did nothing for this "bad taste" of which you speak. That comment confirms my theory that a woman can't truly understand the intricacies of real manhood.
