Where do you find discipline

Or how do you get discipline I don’t even know what I’m trying to ask

Basically like how do you discipline yourself not to be impulsive we’re not to indulge in things you shouldn’t like getting angry or eating too many sweets for being around people that are really good for you

I grew up in such a free-for-all home I basically had no rules and I did whatever I want and now I am an adult

The idea was always live your best life do what you love live in the moment. All that fun and wonderful but now I’m starting to realize there comes a time when you have to have discipline and boundaries

It takes time. As you don't have the opportunity to someone enforce discipline for you like in school or in forces. As you already seems to understood the importance of discipline, now you need to set rules for yourself, and be strict with yourself in following them. Clarity of priorities helps in sticking to your defined rules. Ready to sacrifice your joys & pleasures.

Discipline is art of scheduling the pain & pleasure in life in such a way as to confront pain first so as to enhance pleasure later. - Scott Peck

All the best !!

I have less impulse control than anyone would imagine but also a strong fear of messing up so they seem to balance out fairly well.

And I grew up in an authoritarian household until middle school and then a combination free for all with rules so inconsistent that the right thing one day could be heavily punished the next.
@summersong 🖤🤗

I keep a daily planner and a rigorous work out routine.

Physical training and having set mission objectives has a profound effect on not just the body but the mind as well.

That is why it is so important in the military; an organization that literally runs off of discipline.

@Eternity military you say 🤔
@Eternity Yes, absolutely. I find that when I workout, I'm mentally more focused and more motivated to handle my business.
I’m kind of a mess. You should ask someone else.

@DarkHeaven did you also grow up in a free-for-all household
@DeluxedEdition Noooo. Super strict. I grew up on a farm and had many chores even as a young child. My Da was a cattle rancher and we all had to work hard.
@DeluxedEdition I remember getting being up and about at 4am sharp to break up the ice in the horse’s water trough. It was so cold. And if it was really cold that day, I got to do it again after breakfast. It was a lot of hard work but I miss riding my horse a lot.

Well it's good that you got such freedom to enjoy your life. I have my own routine and to do list. I sometimes fail at doing things. But i always make sure i do it next day or maybe day next after it. ☺️

Noooo we had too much freedom. It seemed fun at the time but I look back now and I can’t believe the stuff we used to do 🤦

Not to mention I was a teen mom

@littlepuppywantanewlife

Epitome of discipline is armed forces of any country ..so could try n emulate them to improve your discipline
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@romell it’s weird you say this because I actually considered doing this LOL

@DeluxedEdition ask someone from forces
C'mere, baby. I can keep you disciplined. It takes a strong will, patience and love.
@DeluxedEdition Don't laugh. I'm serious. I'll guide you with a firm hand. I'll be tough yet gentle, strong yet caring. I got you.
