Catholics are persecuted for their devotion to the Blessed Virgin

Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is a traditional form of Christian piety that honors Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as the highest among all saints while remaining strictly distinct from the worship given to God.

Core Meaning and Theology

• Subordinated to Christ: The Catholic and historical Christian view teaches that true devotion to Mary always leads directly to Jesus Christ, serving as a path to better understand and love the Savior.
• Intercession: Believers ask Mary to pray for them to God, viewing her as a spiritual mother and advocate based on her closeness to Christ.
• Biblical Roots: Practices draw from scripture, including Gabriel's greeting ("Full of grace") and Elizabeth's blessing in the Gospel of Luke, alongside Mary’s own words in the Magnificat ("All generations shall call me blessed").

Major Forms of Marian Devotion

• The Rosary: A meditative prayer cycle reflecting on key events (mysteries) in the lives of Jesus and Mary.
• The Angelus: A traditional prayer recited three times daily commemorating the Annunciation.
• Scapulars and Medals: Physical sacramental items, such as the Brown Scapular or the Miraculous Medal, worn as signs of consecration and trust.
• May Crowning: A spring liturgical custom where a statue of Mary is crowned with flowers to honor her as Queen of Heaven.
• Consecration: Total dedication of oneself to Jesus through Mary, famously detailed by figures like St. Louis de Montfort.

Interesting bit of historical info about some Marian traditions from a religious Catholic perspective.

That being said the title is a bit much. Both Catholics and Protestants love to pretend they are being persecuted.

It only seems to be the Orthodox who are not into this theatre.
