I Am Roman Catholic

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande, Arizona refurbished the small original Spanish-style Church and then infused it with the Spirit of Vatican II. Re-baptized the “Divine Mercy Chapel” it was filled with a hundred conference room chairs (no kneelers of course). A gaudy “Divine Mercy” poster was hung on the wall in back of the altar (which has no Crucifix on it) and the Crucifix behind the altar was shoved to an inconspicuous place to the left of the altar – replaced by a bonsai tree – front and center behind the altar. This is the venue for daily Mass and Adoration.

I think structured religion is going by the wayside, as people are looking for more.😇 I don't attend church services anymore, but I am very spiritual. Wonder why they chose to decorate it that way?🤔
@Peaches: long story of what (to my distress)is going on in the Church --call it "Spirit of Vatican II' --accelerated recently -- in the few short years of Pope Francis’ pontificate, the stale and musty spirit of the seventies has resurged!

@beckychandler: Maybe it is a reaction to people moving away from the church? Still why would you compromise your ideals to win people back?
