If you have a religious faith, do you test it to make sure of it?

The Christian Greek Scriptures tell us about a community called Beroeans who tested their faith every day they spoke of what they believed after being taught by the apostle Paul, and others. They said it is important to test your faith daily, making sure of all things.

In Buddha’s teachings he said not to believe what he taught but to test it out for yourself. It is an important lesson as part of our making sure we are learning truth from its source and not the understanding of fallible men.

It is important not to just believe everything you are taught by the religious leaders and authority but to test it out against the Holy Scriptures. It is the words from God himself that are the guidance we need to know and understand fully in order to be true to our Father in Heaven, as taught to us through His own Son, the Word.

This is essential if you are a member of a community of Christians such as the Roman Catholic Church. No one person in the church has an infallible view of the gospel of the Christ, authority is the Holy Bible itself. Nothing taught that is not firmly established in Scripture is God’s truth.

This is the guidance from Scripture that is the root of my acceptance of the teachings founded by the church and I am not heretical. I am a Secular Christian and Franciscan.
