To which I say, Amen and Amen.
I live in the USA, and many here also do not understand or obey the teachings of Jesus. But they claim to be Christians.
In many, many places, churches have become corporations that seek profit and social advantage instead of following those teachings.
It’s not my place to judge them. But I don’t agree with them and I believe they will be judged.

@XxBlahxX You almost get it.

Most Christians in my experience only act like Christians. They don't live like Christians.
IsawDDevil · 36-40, M

Nobody actually believes in religion. There are progressive Christians who will use Christianity to promote their social programs. There are reactionary Christians who will use Christianity to promote their sexism and homophobia. But in both cases, religion is used to justify what they already believe in.

@BohoBabe That's a logical fallacy.
"Nobody believes in religion" does not follow what you said later. It's a "non sequitur'

@CurrentName How does it not follow?
To be as clear as possible, people will identify with a religion, then use that religion to justify stuff they already believe. Nobody believes something because it's in their holy book, because nobody thinks their religion is actually real.

That's a too general of a statement. Almost rage bait.
Saying that would be like saying that all MAGA are racist or that every liberal has a kind heart and cares for others.
Obviously not true.
