Since we, in the Catholic Church, see abortion as murder, and wrong, why does the President, Vice President, and head of the House of Representatives all very vocally support abortion with minimal objection from the Church? Yes, we may hear it mentioned from the pulpit in passing, or at one sermon a year, not only is there not much public comment by the Church but Nancy Pelosi even received communion at the pope's mass in Rome. It's no wonder that many Catholics support abortion. They are confused or uncertain where the church stands on this.

They are confused or uncertain where the church stands on this.

Then shame on those parishioners.
There is no confusion over the immorality of murder.

The Harlot compromises everything to get into bed with the kings of the earth.. She rides on the back of the beast.. She loves being supported by the beast.. But the beast is just using her and will turn on her and burn her. When a Harlot of used up she is disposed of without pity. Probably some day soon..
Polititions are servents of the people. Not servants of religion. If they want to overthrow a democracy and put their religious ideas into law then they are traitors.
People are perfectly clear where Christianity stands on this. It's heard everyday. But the US is NOT a Christian theocracy.
Jews for instance have no problems with abortion. Neither do Satanists. But Christians are trying to impose their laws on others. It is completely about controlling others. And the heck with freedom of and from religion.

Maybe a good number of catholics just support the seperation of church and state. You know, that idea that when you make law you don't bring your God into it, because you god isn't everyone elses' God. You make laws for everyone, not just the christians. And when people have the freedom to have an abortion, Christians can still live according to their Gods' rules. Just keep that God out of my backyard, thx.

Because it's not all "we" who believe that.

From Pope Francis:
“Leaving that [the Supreme Court decision] aside, let’s go back to the issue of abortion, which is a problem.” He said it is important to look at what science has learned in the past few decades: “In this we have to be scientific, see what science tells us today. Science today and any book on embryology, the one our medical students study, tells you that 30 days after conception there is DNA and the laying out already of all the organs.”

He asked, “Is it legitimate, is it right, to eliminate a human life to resolve a problem?” He insisted, “It’s a human life - that’s science. The moral question is whether it is right to take a human life to solve a problem."

The church, like any staid and ancient institution, has to align itself with modern times while maintaining its core tenets. Generally speaking, the Church's stance is still Right to Life. But morality changes as science changes. We used to burn witches to save a town.

Separation between church and state. The Catholic church doesn't get to decide that it is the only one true religion for all people in the United States.
"There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Shakespeare
The quote is commonly defined as a reference to what exists in 'reality'.

I don't think any of those answers really suffice for me. To me, abortion is a choice. But should not be utilized/abused as an alternative form of contraception.
