Actually I do not think that is so. Early religions deified female features like fertility suggesting women were ascendent.
Sure male values of war, violence and greed are killing the world.

Deification is very different from being the alpha tribe leader. But I recognize that some societies may have had women rulers from time to time. The exception to the rule. I can't cite you a reference because I haven't researched the issue. So don't quote me on that.
