By todays standards would sherman been a war criminal?

True and a friend told me it could be worse. They could have locked the workers in the mill and set it on fire like that man on patroit did. Only person held on war crimes from the civil war was the man in charge of andersonville

My ancestors plantation was burned down by Sherman's troops. They also killed my ancestors 12 year old brother.
