Air Force to deny early retirement benefits to transgender veterans

People who served between 15 to 18 years to be denied retirement benefits if transgender, this is so shameful.

Honestly though, on the bright side, if the military screws over enough people and closes itself off, it will be comical if you actually need people to fight for you in war and people aren't going to have it.

Lol I mean how many men that fit the specfic nationalist ideal is actually out there. In 2050 whites will be a minority so how many are gonna replace who the Trump administration is ostracizing? Like how you gonna replace people, there's not enough straight whites in 2050 gonna be left.

And Trump has already did similar to black veterans and their memorials too so this leaves them out.

Unless you wanna force white women to have 20 babies each?

These policies of trying to be combative to your own citizens are going to backfire.

Whose going to join the military in the future?

No one.

The US military was having the same issue with people NOT joining the US military voluntarily as far back as WWII and the Vietnam war, which seems to be a parallel to the transgender issue you raise here.

The reason men would then join the US military voluntarily during the Vietnam war was because they had either already received notice of induction (draft forthcoming) in the mail, or they knew it would be arriving in the mail very shortly!

Be as proactive as Americans usually are, those young proactive men voluntarily enlisted in the US military at the last minute in many cases between 1962 and 1973 to avoid being drafted, while thinking that volunteering would somehow help them to direct their fate of where they'd end up, as opposed to being drafted and being sent off to the front line in South Vietnam.

The truth is, whether they enlisted voluntarily or they were drafted against their will, they were ALL sent to the front line in South Vietnam!

I understand what your post is eluding to, but if all transgenders were excluded from military service, you'd either have nothing different happen than what was already experienced during Vietnam, or you'd have every American male declaring himself transgender to avoid being sent to the front line of America's latest debacle on the world stage.

@swirlie It’s true it could be wishful thinking on my part. Thing is I don't get how our military can survive if they keep alienating everyone.

I think to answer your question, one needs to look at the reason men and women join the US military in the first place. One might think their choice is based on patriotism, but statistics from the Vietnam era show that of all men who enlisted in the US military at the time, only 6% marked their enlistment card as "Patriotism" being the reason they showed up at the Enlistment Office.

I should also point out that statistically, only the very poor or the unemployed or the uneducated beyond a high school diploma with no means of securing an advanced education in college, are and always have been the ones who typically walk into a US Enlistment Office and join the US military for ANY branch of the US armed services.

@swirlie When I was younger I wanted to be a sniper in the military, willfully wanted to be that as a career choice.

But then I met the grossest army recruiter who perceded to tell me in the 90s that women get their periods and can't carry the equipment on their back and decided the military was for chads and stacys. Never looked back.

A girlfriend of mine who is Ukrainian, joined the Ukraine Army before Putin invaded Ukraine for the specific task of becoming a sniper.

At first, she was assigned to a Unit comprised of all men except her, then things changed and the Ukraine Army created all-female Units, most of whom wanted to be a sniper!

What the Ukraine Army discovered statistically, was that women are better snipers than men are. It doesn't mean women are better at shooting a gun than men, it means that women are better at making the decision to pull the trigger than men are.

Men have a tendency to hesitate, whereas women do not hesitate at all... meaning that women are more like robots who are there to do the task, get the job done and not think it to death first.

Truth is, being a sniper in the Army is the only job I would want to do in the military, because even growing up on our farm as a kid and as a teenager, that kind of thing held a certain attraction or allure for me.

I totally agree with you, it was fate! If it was your fate to be enlisted, you would have been enlisted.

We cannot do what we were not suppose to be doing, which means we are always doing at all times that which we are suppose to be doing as we follow the path of our own fate.

What I don't understand is, why the US gets itself involved in foreign wars in the first place and then tell all the US soldiers that they are fighting for America's freedom?

I can't recall the last time any country tried to annex the USA and therefore put everyone's freedom in peril, so why is it that every American thinks that the US military is fighting to preserve America's freedom when American troops are being sniped in foreign countries but not in the USA?

@swirlie Mostly just propaganda for territory expansion or resources. Also united states love affair for authoritarians

Swirlie, do you believe that we have a script and that everything that happens is fate?

I hope not, that would be a terrible way to live.
