Why is basic training in the military so obsessed with shaming people? Calling them "women" & "idiots" etc.?

I know a lot of enlistees would deny anything went wrong for them...

Regardless of your branch of service, the goal of basic training is, very quickly, to break you down. That way you learn a new way to live. Got that for the first week and a half an Air Force basic. More of a head game in the Air Force. And about training day 6 they put you in class for the first time, discussing the basics. Rank insignias, Air Force Mission and Heritage, customs and courtesies. And so forth. Basic training breaks you down. And build you back up, in accordance with the ultimate mission of your respective Branch of Service. It sucks. But I'm glad I did it.

I had zero issues in basic training.
