Gosh, I don't know. A Viking?
deadgerbil · 22-25
@val70 a Lockheed S-3 Viking? That doesn't have afterburners
val70 · 51-55
@deadgerbil Okido. Not my area of expertise
DogMan · 61-69, M
@deadgerbil True. The Vulcan however does have afterburners. 4 to be exact. They have been retired for many years, but back in the day I had the pleasure of being on the flight line while a few of them took off at night in full AB. it was a beautiful site. FYI that is not a Vulcan in the picture.

@DogMan Skyhawk? I seem to know the aircraft from old model sets
val70 · 51-55
@val70 Scrap that. Still looking
DogMan · 61-69, M
@val70 nope, sorry
deadgerbil · 22-25
@DogMan by Vulcan, you mean UK's delta winged bomber? I'm reading that it did not have afterburners, but that the engine used in it was later developed into an after burning engine for the concord
Repete · 61-69, M
Definitely not an A-4 sky hawk I worked on them.
I’d say an f-4 looking at the tail @val70
DogMan · 61-69, M
@deadgerbil Yes, you are right. Good catch! Long time ago.🥴
The Vulcans did come to Nellis AFB back in the late 70's to participate
with us during Red Flag.

I think I might have mixed it up with the B1's that were there.

I remember the Vulcan having a different sound then our jets and bombers.

@Repete Yep, F-4D
