Bad strategy. A better strategy would be for the bombers to approach from random directions, at treetop altitude and pop-up seconds before dropping their loads. Then descend again to tree-top altitudes and random exit routes. Fighters would best serve as decoys, to confuse the defenders. Modern wars aren't about who can kill the most, but who can overwhelm the other with strategies that are impossible to defend against.

@Heartlander Reagan did something like that in Libya. I think they used F-111's that flew super
low across the Mediterranean to avoid radar.

@DogMan I think that's also the strategy with the old "oil burner" routes where B52s fly mixed high-low routes where no one could keep track them.
