“Keep ‘em flyin’!”

Today is the U.S. [image deleted]Air force Anniversary. Created 18 September 1947.
Best part for me was serving in PACAF and SAC!
This evening I watched “Thud pilots”. The men who flew the F 105 Thunder chief aircraft during the Viet Nam war. Toward the end an image of a military cemetery and the narrator’s comment about the politicians and people in Washington who sent men to war but failed them which in light of Afghanistan and our leaving, was very poignant. Watched it on the 74th Anniversary of the creation of the United States Air Force in which I served.

@soar2newhighs I saw an old British cartoon hanging on the wall of the local legion hall. It was a picture of a soldier walking away and on his butt was a large foot print. The foot print was from parliament. (Tommy is a British expression for soldier.)
The caption read:

Its Tommy this
and Tommy that
and Tommy is a lout.
But he's hero of the country
when the guns begin to shout.

The Canadian Air Force began in 1920 and received its Royal designation in 1924. It stopped being its own branch in 1968. I was in the Canadian Forces in 1972 - 1978. There was a 'air element' which I was a member but not an air force. PM Harper brought back the RCAF in 2011
