Japan has amended Article 9 of it's constitution and it's free to expand it's military now. Are you in favour of this or against it?

January 2015, Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa were brutally beheaded by radical Islamic terrorists in Syrian Islamic state. Japanese people and bureaucracy were deeply affected by this incident. This led to a constitutional amendment that is debated by Left in Japan to date.

Article 9 of Japanese Pacifist constitution stated that Japan can have military power only for self-defence. This agreement was signed by Japanese bureaucrats and military generals after WWII. Also, as per this agreement, United States is obligated to defend Japan if Japan is attacked by any foreign force.

President Shinzo Abe amended this article. Now, Japan is free to deploy it's troops in foreign land and expand it's Military power.

Brutal killing of Japanese nationals in an Islamic state is not the only reason why Japanese amended Article 9 of their constitution. There's another major threat, they face today. That threat is none other than China's continuous encroachment of islands that belong to other Asian nations.

Every island that China acquires, within short time-span, it constructs a Military base there. The message is clear to the world that China wishes to conquer world at any cost.

Chinese coast guards and Navy continuously visits Senkaku islands and hoist their country's flag. Now, those are Japanese islands. Chinese fighter jets provoke Japanese air-force by flying over their military-zone on regular basis.

Some Right-wing officials in Japan feel that Japan is not equivalent to United States in terms of military power. They respect the fact that US forces are bound to defend Japan but Japan should have an army as powerful as USA. To some extent, I agree with that.

Japan and USA are allies and Japanese respect the word given. So, an expanded Japanese military would only be an asset for USA.

Hence, I am in favour of this amendment. I ❤️ Japan! 🙂
