I heard this happened in San Diego.
That is the biggest base behind Norfolk.

@Pfuzylogic It is San Diego.

Shocking, they had to secure the ships by it to isolate the fire.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic By secure your mean, anchor them?
Pfuzylogic · M
@SimplyTracie
Actually move the ship from the hazardous event.
To “secure” something is to lock it down and or protect it.

Not good to anchor it next to the fire!
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic Oh yeah but maybe they can fight the fire from their ship.

The damage control and firefighting is normally done on board. You definitely want other ships away. Now firefighting boats would be a different matter.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic I’ve seen those boats but more in a festive event.

I seen one underway on the east coast while I was on board for my two weeks active duty but it was a fast frigate. They terminated that program in the mid 90s though.

@Pfuzylogic @SimplyTracie I think you'd more likely see a fireboat from the civilian fire department these days... not sure how long it would take them to clear it to operate in the Navy's security space.
