No that’s a police state and a cowards excuse for atrocities

@meJess this is what I was looking for. Police and military are people first. They should try to uphold the law but not to the point where they don't question things that make no sense or are immoral.

@TheunderdogofNY It's totally different. They have no choice but to uphold the "rules". It's not a question of morality. It's a totally different outlook. You either do or your out. I know this all too well. Three times I was in controlled confinement (not really jail, but close) and then I was out!

@DeWayfarer you always have a choice. It's a matter of accepting the consequences of making that choice. This is why I'm not a fan of the phrase "just doing my job."

@TheunderdogofNY Contracts are different. And I really didn't know what I was getting into at that age. You violate a contract and you have to pay the consequences, even if you don't understand the terms. There is no choice in it.

@DeWayfarer I don't disagree with anything you have stated. I'm saying one should be willing to make a choice to violate the agreement and accept the consequences of their actions or even resign if possible.

@TheunderdogofNY Resigning was not possible. Enlistment is not like commissioning. And in a military environment I can understand why. Can't have people deserting.
