Deputy Teacher

Born, raised and educated in Newcastle - centre of the universe, I think you shall find - as a teacher then moved to Derbyshire for my first job.
4 years, I think, or there abouts and it was situated in Sheffield, then locum work in Nottingham and Derbyshire then down in Surrey where we now live.
I accepted a real, proper job, there and then just before the Pandemic (remember life before the pandemic?) I had a promotion to Deputy Head Teacher.
My school is infants based. I prefer that age range. I've done some locum work, as I said, with teenagers and just find them....annoying! Although i'm a fairly confident individual I tend to find teenagers can make me feel a little bit embarrassed. So, stick with the children that I feel I can make the most impact with, the pre-teens.
During the pandemic I had the opportunity to, as you'd say, step up to the plate and be the acting head, with our head teacher ill with Covid and it's after effects. A good, but taxing role.
Meanwhile, the wife was doing the home schooling of our child.
Fun times!
Love my job. love the team that work with. The parents? Oh, they're ok too.
Important role, one that I don't believe we get adequately paid for, so it must be some kind of vocation.
I've been in post as Head Teacher now for around 3 years.
