My father worked as a manager in a textile mill all his working life.

My father was an accountant.

Nice. I have a Norwegian friend who always drink and smokes. He's receiving pension/benefits from the Norwegian government that allows him not to work. I think due to mental issues. He spends time drinking beer, eating pork and steak, smokes like a chimney. He's dead now. True story.

My father was a businessman. When he has money, he really has money. When he has no money, he's really broke.

IDK if that makes any sense. But he's a good dad. Loves me so much and we love him back.

Some would call him a 'civil servant'.
