Back when I was in uni some people came to visit us from an oil company to try to recruit new grads. One of the reps almost cried.

There was some sort of hurricane going on at the time and they were worried about their homes but they also had to be there at my uni to talk to us and try to convince us to work there.

There was this girl who was one of the company reps and she looked like she was about to cry as she told us, "well we are here for you guys right now".

I remember thinking Jesus Christ this company can't just let these people have time off to go check on their families during the hurricane.

It was so ridiculous. Horrific PR.

I worked at an oil company myself before. It is brutal. It doesn't matter if you are a mechanic or an engineer or whatever, it's just brutal.
